We wake up one day and our young children have turned into teenagers! What a shock! It's hard to go through the days of them talking back and laying on the floor and crying. Now I am starting to see that teenagers can be difficult too. I have one boy who is 16, and one who is 19 now. Wow! Time flies so fast. The Lord helps us through each stage of our lives. Every stage of my journey with my boys has been wonderful though now that I look back. Never fear, young moms! You WILL get through the sleepless nights of the crying because they're sick, or need feedings. When they get to be teenagers, you sometimes have sleepness nights because they're out late on a date, gone to a prom, or coming home late at night from college.
In the fall, when my first son left for college, I thought I would never make it. I had a very difficult time thinking "how did the time go so fast??", and he was far away. Ten hours away at college. How did this happen so quickly? There's still so much I want to teach him. Did I teach well enough, to keep his Christian values at college where there is so much pressure and world views? I was very down and didn't know if I could handle the change in our family structure. He would never be in our home in quite the same way. Our major influence in his life was done. Our role with him would always be different now. We had to learn how to parent him in a whole new way. Now the school year is almost done for him, and I think the year went very fast.
Enjoy every moment with your young children. It is not the end of the world when they grow up. We just have to be able to adjust to a different stage of parenting. You wouldn't want them NOT to grow up! With God's help we can make it.
Just part of one mom's journey through the first year of college...
Till next time.

New Year's fun
Do you already feel like you are breaking some of your New Year's resolutions, and feeling the "blah"? Set up a calendar for the new year with your children that has a memory verse on each day of the month. Memorize the verse each day with your child. It will be more fun for your children if you recite it to them also. You will be blessed by memorizing the word of God, and those verses will stick with you and your children.
